How Gram Flour Can Be Useful To Get A Glowing Skin?

Gram flour is made by grinding chickpea (also called Bengal gram or garbanzo beans) which is a type of pulse flour. It is a part of the staple diet of Indian cuisine. You can grind the chickpea after roasting it.

Roasted chickpeas give a good flavour after grinding while the raw chickpeas taste slightly bitter after grinding.

Why It Is So Special?

India produces 90 million tons of chickpeas every year. Also, India is the greatest producer and exporter of peas in the world. These are extensively used in Asian cuisine. In the 18th century Europe, instead of coffee roasted chickpeas were used. Leaves of chickpeas are used while making blue dyes.

The green and dry stems of chickpeas which are of no use and later discarded are then used as fodder for animals. It is an annual plant which completes its life cycle in one complete year.

Its Nutritional Value

Gram flour has a high content of carbohydrates and protein. It contains the same nutritional value as chickpeas. It doesn’t have any gluten and contains a higher dose of fibre. That is why it also aids weight loss. The stems, leaves and pods of chickpeas contain fluid that has oxalic and malic acids which contain aphrodisiac properties.

It helps to regulate the blood sugar levels and therefore helps in treating diabetes. Thus, for keeping your heart healthy and minimize the risk of heart diseases.

Gram flour is enriched with linoleic and oleic acids which are unsaturated fatty acids having high nutritional value. It contains several vitamins like riboflavin, niacin, folate, and beta-carotene.

Using Gram Flour For Skin

Gram flour (besan) has been used since ages in making face packs or ubtans and is always considered as one of the best tips to get glowing skin. Here are some benefits of besan for skin:

  •  It helps to treat acne.

Acne and pimples are a major problem which are really annoying. Gram flour contains zinc that can reduce pimples and acne by fighting against infection. The fiber in gram flour regulates the blood sugar levels. Imbalanced blood sugar levels leads to breakouts or pimples. Gram flour helps in preventing acne and pimples.

  •  Exfoliates skin

Our skin gets so much affected by dirt and pollution that it gets deposited causing skin damaging. This leads to a dull appearance. Exfoliating regularly can leave your skin fresh and glowy bringing out the natural glow hidden behind all the dirt.

Also, our skin produces new skin cells which also get covered under the layer of dead skin cells. So exfoliation helps to remove the layer of dead skin cells too. Using gram flour with corn flour and ground oats to make a face and body pack will help in exfoliation.

  •  It helps to remove tan

Gram flour helps to can be effective in removing tan and lightening the skin tone. Mix 4 teaspoons of besan or gram flour, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of yoghurt and apply it as a face pack. You can also apply it on your body everyday before bath for quick results.
